Jazmine Sullivan

JazmineJazmine was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Pam Her mother, who was an old backup singer at Philadelphia International Records. When she was 5 years old, her father landed job as curator of The city's Historic Strawberry Mansion in the Strawberry Mansion section, and her family relocated to the historical landmark. In 2005 she graduated from Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts with a vocal music major. Sullivan performed as a contralto for the children's choir and, a few more years later was a part of the adult choir. Sullivan was never familiar with secular music until beginning. "When I reached 11 years old, someone asked to enroll me on the gospel recording. I was not going to take that step," she says. "Then when McDonald's held a contest for children in cities of the world and I was offered the chance to sing 'Accept what God Gives' on Showtime at the Apollo and the audience were very supportive". She was just 13 when she sang to Stevie Wonder for his grandson's birthday. Sullivan At the age of 15, was first signed to Jive Records. She was signed to Jive Records when she was 15. She recorded an entire album, but the album didn't get released. Sullivan was eventually eliminated from the record label. The singer had a great working partnership along with Missy Elliott. Elliott produced several of her songs, including "Backstabbers", which was produced by Timbaland.
